Poetry Friday- John Dryden: All, All of a Piece
For the New Year-
All, All of a Piece
All, all of a piece throughout:
Thy chase had a beast in view;
Thy wars brought nothing about;
Thy lovers were all untrue.
'Tis well an old age is out,
And time to begin a new.
--John Dryden (The Secular Masque)

Thank you for sharing this. It feels so reflective of thinking about the past year and looking ahead.
There is a good deal of truth in that poem.
Great choice for the end of this year, John.
"And time to bring a new" ...great line and I was just thinking so myself when I woke up this morn.
MsMac: I also like the wordplay with piece/peace.
Barbara: I agree.
Carrie: Yes, it's amazing how poems from the 1600s can still be relevant.
Allison: It's a contagious sentiment for sure.
